Does Day of Coordination Exist?

Does Day of Coordination Exist?

Raise your hand high if you’ve heard of “day of coordination”? Cheesy, I know, but how many of you did I get to raise your hand randomly in public?! No one? Oh well! More seriously, I am sure that at some point during your wedding planning process, someone has told you how important it is to consider having a day of coordinator. Are you a little confused as to what role this person would play in your day? How would they know all the small details you’d been planning for months? How would they know where everything goes? Why can’t someone in my wedding party just handle everything for me? All of these questions and concerns are valid!

The concept of day-of coordination is misleading and I’m going to let you guys in on a secret about this service….it doesn’t exist. I know, I know, you see the package listed on lots of planner's websites and hear about it from friends and family that have gotten married. The reason I don’t think it exists is because when those three words are put together, it makes you think a planner will show up on the day of your wedding, having put in no effort or work beforehand, and execute your day flawlessly. If someone has proved to be able to do this, they would be what I like to call a “magic wedding fairy” and I would love to meet them!

Wedding management is my solution to avoiding this confusion. It also allows me to offer more to my couples than just the coordination of their wedding day. Instead of jumping in during the final hour of your planning process, I start working with you the moment you book. Now, this doesn’t mean I become super involved in the more detailed aspects of the planning process (this would be my wedding planning and design package), but it does mean that I am there for you as a resource. You’ve likely never planned a wedding before, and that means you don’t know what you don’t know! There are so many questions and concerns that come up throughout the process, and I want to be a guide for you through those roadblocks. We start the process of sharing things like contracts and vendor information right away as well.

One of the most important parts of wedding management is the time I take to get to know you and your partner both individually and as a couple. I want to serve you the best I can on your special day and to do that, I need to know your personality and how you would want situations handled. That way, I can combine what I learn about your personal thought process along with my own knowledge and experience to address any situations that come up. Along with getting to know your personality, I make sure I know all the ins and outs of your overall wedding vision so I can execute the setup and decor side of things perfectly. I also address all the details of your day-of timeline, work with your vendors to create a cohesive wedding day team, and help organize the details of your ceremony.

Wedding management is perfect for a couple that wants to handle the detailed planning themselves but also wants the confidence of knowing that someone who knows them and their wedding like the back of their own hand, will be there managing their most special day.
